How to register for medborgarskapsprovet

The short answer is that you cannot sign yourself up. Registration opens to people Migrationsverket has written to, and to nobody else.

This is the most searched thing about the Swedish citizenship test and the most consistently mis-answered, because it works backwards from how a test normally works. There is no booking page to find. The order is fixed by law.

The order it happens in

  1. You apply for Swedish citizenshipMigrationsverket handles the application. Nothing about the test happens before this.
  2. Migrationsverket decides whether you need the testThe knowledge requirement can be met in other ways, and Migrationsverket decides which applies to you. UHR only runs the test and has no say in who sits it.
  3. Migrationsverket directs you to UHRSection 4 of Förordning (2026:451) puts this duty on Migrationsverket. In practice it is a letter, an anvisningsbrev. UHR says only people who receive that letter get one.
  4. You register with UHRSection 5 says a participant must have been directed under section 4. Without the letter there is nothing to register for, which is what the registration page means when it turns you away.
  5. UHR sends a kallelse for the sittingThe summons carries the practical detail for the day. UHR asks that you read it carefully and arrive in good time.

Where this stands on 30 August 2026

  • Registration is closed. UHR states plainly that it is not possible to register.
  • The date of the next sitting in samhällskunskap has not been announced. UHR says it will be published on uhr.se during the autumn.
  • The Swedish language part of the test comes later and has no date.
If a site is offering to book you a place, or quoting a date for the next sitting, it is ahead of UHR.

The questions people actually ask

Why have I not received a letter from Migrationsverket?

Because Migrationsverket decides who sits the test, and only those people get an anvisningsbrev. Not receiving one is not an oversight to chase with UHR. Questions about your own citizenship case go to Migrationsverket; UHR only answers questions about the test itself.

Can I take medborgarskapsprovet in my own language?

No. UHR's answer is that the test can only be done in Swedish. It is written in Swedish, on paper, as multiple choice questions with one correct answer.

What happens if I fail medborgarskapsprovet?

UHR says that if you receive a failing result you may get the opportunity to show your knowledge again, and that you should contact Migrationsverket to find out what applies in your case. UHR has not published a limit on attempts.

Can I register for the next sitting now, to be safe?

No. Registration is closed and UHR has not announced when it opens for the next sitting. It has said information about the next sitting will come during the autumn.

That was ten. There are 3,000+ more.

963 of them are Swedish, drilled chapter by chapter in the order the official material sets them, with a mistakes deck, spaced repetition and full mocks under the real clock.

Written by Belong Nordic from the authority’s own study material — they are not UHR’s questions, and the real sitting uses its own.
